Nellie & Joe's Key West Key Lime Juice is hands down the best key lime juice to bake with (unless you have real key limes).

You can also make your own crust or buy store bought.

Overview

My favorite pie is a key lime pie. But, you know I love my chocolate so I took this classic recipe and turned it up a notch. I added a soft layer of chocolate to the top of my pie and let me tell you, this is a game changer! The tartness from the key lime paired with the bitterness of the chocolate is like a match made in heaven. You're welcome.

My Dad took my sister and I to the the Florida Keys pretty frequently growing up. We bonded over key lime pie and chocolate. Our neighbors down there used to have a key lime tree, so we would go over to their house and bake a key lime pie and add a layer of chocolate on top. We named it "The Panzenhagen Pie." (My maiden name... I was very happy when I got to shorten it). They since purchased a restaurant nearby and guess what they added to their dessert menu? Panzenhagen Pie: Key lime pie with chocolate on top. We became frequent dessert customers.
