Spooky Monster Cookies

Ingredients

Cookies

  • 2 1/4 cups @bobsredmill all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg (room temp)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • optional: 1/4 tsp almond extract

Frosting

  • 1 Pillsbury Vanilla Frosting Container
  • Assorted Colored Food Dye
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. In a medium sized bowl, mix together dry ingredients.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add in egg and extracts and beat until combined.
  4. Slowly add in dry mix until just combined.
  5. Roll cookies out on a floured surface so that they are about 1/8"-1/4" thick.
  6. Cut out with your favorite cookie cutters (I used a circle cutter to make it simple).
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes, or until edges are just barely golden brown.
  8. Let cool.
  9. In a few separate bowls, equally separate frosting.
  10. Add in a few drops of dye and mix until your ideal color is achieved.
  11. Use a knife to frost the tops of the cooled cookies.
  12. Decorate as you'd like!
* NOTES

* If dough is sticking too much, chill in refrigerator for 30 mins-1 hour before rolling out.

* You can also use Pillsbury's Lemon Frosting for a different taste.

These spooky little monsters are my favorite Halloween dessert.

They're a fun treat to make and decorate. And as you can see, not one cookie is the same.

This would be the perfect dessert to get your kiddos involved! They can decorate their monsters however they'd like. This also makes for a great activity at a kids Halloween party, too.

Not only are these cookies spooky to the eye, they're spooky delicious thanks to their soft texture. And the frosting is scary simple to make as you can see below.
