"This is a group of women that become my ride or die during the season."

BY
Katie B

What team did you start on?

Green Bay Packers after 6 years coaching college football

Teams you've been on since? (if any)

Cleveland browns, and now the Dallas Cowboys.

Game day ritual or tradition?

Usually running late. But I try to do a devotional the morning of and write notes in my hubby’s suitcase for his night at the hotel before gameday.

What was your experience with the draft/free agency/etc?

Stressful to see our friends leave and hope their career continues in a direction they want. As far as coaching carousel, basically as soon as the season ends the carousel begins. And it’s stressful even if your head coach hasn’t been fired/or is in hot seat. Your friends are moving, and there’s still a chance you will get hired away to another team. Really can’t feel secure that you’re not moving until end of February.

Your favorite moment in the NFL?

The first time I saw my husband on the field, family nights with the Packers, taking my boys to their first NFL games.

Something you've struggled with in the NFL?

Being away from my closest friends and family, especially while raising babies. Also learning who to trust my babies with.

One thing you wish someone prepared you for?

The loneliness and emotions of having a really awful season.

A resource that the NFL offers that you use(d)?

Women’s bible study. Even if you’re not super religious/into your faith, this is always a group of women that become my ride or die during the season.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Get involved with the women’s groups on your teams! It’s easier to find your people. Also get involved with a charity, it’s easy to lose sight of “real life” in the NFL, we are here to serve others and are in a unique situation to be able to do that! As for mean fans or drama, truly, just have grace with yourself and them.
