And Just Like That, Training Camp is Back

BY
Sarah Biegel

Training camp is 2 days away and I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting and mental prepping.

Camp brings a rollercoaster of emotions.

For one, camp naturally brings up a lot of uneasy feelings for me. Every time we’ve moved, it’s been right after camp. Cut, traded and injured, our family has been through it all. I swear I stop breathing those two days of rosters being made and trades the following day.

On the other hand, camp is a time where Vince and I rely heavily on the Lord. When absolutely nothing is in our control, we have no other choice. It brings a great season of faith and testimony building to our lives. I’ve never felt closer to the Lord than I have when we’re in football season.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned through it all so far, it’s to enjoy whatever moment you’re in. Those moments of uneasiness, those moments of pure joy and excitement. Bottle them up and enjoy them.

Before every camp, Vince and I pray that we may be placed wherever the Lord needs us to be. While I might not know why we’ve been to the places we’ve been, I can only hope that one day I’ll understand.

The same goes for this year's camp. Last year, Vince tore his achilles and what seemed to be devastating at first, turned out to be a real blessing for our family. We got such sweet time together, time none of us has ever experienced. Vince was able to grow such a strong bond with our daughter, teach her so many things, and for that I'm grateful. I'm grateful for his perseverance, determination and hard work that he's shown to get back on the field. No matter what, we'll be able to look back and say, look at what you've accomplished, and through that example, I hope our daughter learns to never give up.

I’m praying for a healthy camp for all of my football friends and am looking forward to whatever the Lord has in store for the Biegel family.
