There's lots of new mamas in my life so it got me thinking that I should share my tried and true newborn essentials. While I feel like this could go on forever, I'm going to try and keep it short and sweet!
- SnuggleMe Lounger
This is what my daughter lounged and slept in for those first few months. I packed it in suitcases and hauled it around like another child. Per snugglemeorganic.com, "...is a unique lounging pad designed to hug your baby's full body. This snuggling sensation is highly effective at calming and comforting your baby when you need extra support." It's a great transition piece from the womb to the "forth trimester." (*Take note: As recommended by the AAP, NEVER use any baby lounger as a sleep device.) - This 5-in-1 car seat and nursing cover
I used this every single day in those first few months: almost every time I went for a walk, when I went to the store, car rides, when I pumped and more. It's so soft it doubles as blanket too. It's lightweight enough and breathable so you don't have to worry about your little one overheating. - Hatch Sound Machine
Oh how I wish I found this right away. I had the older version, but if you travel as frequently as I do, this version is well worth every penny. It comes with a library of snooze-inducing sounds, lullabies, and white noise as well as the option to choose from a rainbow of illuminating colors. My favorite part is the backup battery. (Could have used that in several New Orleans power outages). You can take it cord-free in the car or anytime you don't have an outlet. - Rohm Portable White Noise Machine
This pairs seamlessly with the 5-in-1 cover mentioned above. Consider them like PB&J... you rarely found me with one and not the other. - Miracle Blanket Swaddle or Ollie Swaddle
Ugh, while I wish the Ollie Swaddle was in stock, but this is a close second. My daughter could finagle her way out of any swaddle except for the Ollie. If it comes back in stock I'll be sure to update this page. This swaddle has great reviews on Amazon, is at a great price point and seems to work just as well as the Ollie. - Car Seat Compatible Stroller
This is a game changer. No more waking baby up to put them in the stroller. There are so many options on the market today, but I'll list my top 3.
- Doona
If you're a traveler then I'd HIGHLY recommend this. It goes from a car seat to stroller in seconds by the push of a button.
- Uppababy Vista
The stroller I own and love. Moves smooth, has a smooth transition from car seat to stroller and can grow to your family.
- Mockingbird Stroller
An Uppababy dupe you could call it. Great reviews for half the price.
